You may have set up job management (automatic or manual) on your machine, and are wondering what data points are being used for each part of the process.
There are 8 tag types used in job management:
Job Name
The job name (also known as job number) is used across Job Management and will display the name of the job running on the machine. It can consist of the product name, job number, or other tracking function, or can be a combination of the above. The Job Name will show up in the following locations:
- On the machine badge from the overview page if you choose to sort by job,
- The Dashboard page in the Trends section (if machine has Quality enabled),
- The Remote Monitoring productivity charts when summarizing by job (if machine has Quality enabled)
- Both Dashboard and Remote Monitoring items will have the job filter chosen by default on job management enabled machines.
- In the Job Management menus, the Job Name is displayed from the Job Runs page and the Job Queue page under the Job Name column and from the Jobs page under the Job # column.
If this point is not set, ei3 will automatically assign the value of the current date and time to this data point. (Manual Job Management makes this a required field).
Job Description
The job description is used for providing a more detailed description of the job. It can contain size, customer name, product name, or other discerning details of the item.
If this point is not set, this value will be left blank.
Product Name
The product name is used across ei3 and will display the name of the job running on the machine. It can consist of the product name, job number, or other tracking function, or can be a combination of the above. The Product Name will show up on the following pages:
- The machine badge from the overview page if you choose to sort by job,
- The Dashboard page in the Trends section,
- The Remote Monitoring productivity charts when summarizing by job
- Both Dashboard and Remote Monitoring items will have the job filter chosen by default on job management enabled machines.
- In the Job Management menus, the Product Name is displayed in the Jobs page, Job Runs, and the Job Queue page (only shows current/most recent job).
If this point is not set, ei3 will automatically assign the value of Unknown Product to this data point. (Manual Job Management makes this a required field).
Product Description
The product description is used for providing a more detailed description of the product. It can contain the customer name, product name, production details, or other discerning qualities of the item.
If this point is not set, ei3 will automatically assign the value of Unknown Product to this data point. (Manual Job Management can leave this field blank).
Customer Name
The Customer Name is used to distinguish various customers across the Job Management module. When creating a job, a customer can be assigned to provide additional information. The same customer can be assigned to several jobs and across several products.
If this point is not set, ei3 will automatically assign the value of Unknown Customer to this data point. (Manual Job Management makes this a required field).
Customer Description
The Customer Description is used to distinguish various customers across the Job Management module. It is an optional field which can be used to provide additional details such as products, jobs, or other important information.
If this point is not set, ei3 will automatically assign the value of Unknown Customer to this data point. (Manual Job Management can leave this field blank).
Operation Name
The Operation Name is used for tracking machines. It allows jobs to be tracked across specific machines as they run. As such we recommend using the machine name (ex. “Slitter 1”) for this field. (In automatic job management, ei3 will automatically assign the value of the customer’s chosen machine name to this data point). (Manual Job Management makes this a required field).
Each Operation allows you to select which machine(s) the operation is assigned to. ei3 recommends using one machine per operation as to avoid confusion.
Operation Description
The Operation Description is an optional field used to provide additional details about a given operation. If this point is not set, ei3 will automatically assign the value of the customer’s chosen machine name (ex. Slitter 1) to this data point. (Manual Job Management can leave this field blank).
